Soprano Marita Bezzina B.Ed.(Hons.), Dip. In Educ.(Adm. & Mgmt.), commenced her tuition in voice technique in Malta.   In 1993 she was a fore-runner (3rd from 36 participants) in the Musical International Esteddfodd held in Wales, where from came her tutor Erioes Thomas Jones.  She was then chosen to further and improve her technique in Vienna under the supervision of Nadia Klintcharova.  She had consultation sessions by Prof. P. Santi, and has participated in master classes at the Graz Musik Hochschule with Prof Llasich and Prof. Pfunder. In 1998 she attended the British Kodlay Academy Summer singers course held in Cheltenham after which she won the prestigious singing competition for solo singers held in Pontweryd Wales.  She is now being coached by Alice Horn.

Marita’s repertoire ranges from Grand operatic arias to the gentler melodies of Operettas, Musicals, Sacred Oratorios and Ballads.  Her credits include the roles of Countess Mathilde in ‘Le Giaconde’ by Nicolo Isouard, Gianetta in ‘L’Elisir d’Amour’ by Donizetti, Yum Yum in ‘ The Mikado” by Gilbert and Sullivan, Nicklausse in ‘The tales of Hoffman’ by Jacques Offenbach, Girtrude in ‘Hansel and Gretel’ by Humperdinck, Charles Camillieri’s opera the ‘Maltese Cross’, Mozart’s Requiem, Missa in D,  Rutter’s  Magnificat,  the Oratorio Dun  Gorg ,  and Nedda in ‘I Pagliacci by Leonecavallo’. Marita has given several sacred and secular recitals in London, Wales, Scotland, Vienna, Tunisia, Finland, Italy and Greece.

Marita has been the soloist for the Amadeus Chamber choir since it was founded and has performed extensively with it both locally and abroad.   Marita loves all that comes from her native Island and has thus exploited this field too. She has not only given recitals of works by most Maltese composers but she has also recorded on C.D namely ‘Xeni Maltin’, ‘Anthology of Maltese Music’ and ‘Malta’ ‘War Poems’ and C.D of the Oratorio ‘Dun Gorg’.  Marita was the singer chosen for the world Premier of ‘Kanti Popolari’ a song cycle composed by Charles Camilleri.
